This group provides a friendly and inviting environment for all parents and caregivers and children 0 – 5 years. There are craft, stories and play for the children. Anyone new to the area who enjoys friendly company is welcome. The group meets in the Parish Centre, Dyson St. at 9.30am every Thursday morning during term time.
This is a fortnightly older group which meets on a Thursday morning at 10.15am for ‘a cuppa and eats’ at Val and Stuart Hatton’s home. If transport is needed, it can be provided.
Gwenyth Howey has led the Choir, comprising keen singers, for many years. As well as leading in the singing during services, they minister in song during Holy Communion. Practices begin at 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoons in the Parish Centre.
This group meets periodically for ‘friendship and fellowship’. Several times a year outings are organised. Contact people are Jan Gilkison and Judith Wood.
From time to time, we have held various study groups, including Lenten studies, Alpha, and God’s Never ending Story, amongst others.
This service to our parish community and beyond is ably coordinated by Sherry Brown. This small group accepts, and deals confidentially with, any prayer requests

I have been Vicar of Temuka since 2003 since moving here from Harihari on the West Coast with Kathryn, my wife and our teenage son. I grew up on a farm at Amberley and I spent 13 years farming there before I was ordained. I passionately believe in the importance of the Church in rural areas. In Temuka I enjoy ministering as part of a team which shares the leadership of worship, preaching and pastoral care. I am in a shared appointment which means I serve three nearby parishes as their enabler in Local Shared Ministry and I am also a canon of Christ Church Cathedral.
I have lived in Temuka with my husband Peter since 1978 when we moved from Invercargill. During this time we have joined in with many aspects of community life including on-going involvement in the Temuka Parish. When our children reached adulthood I discovered the adventure of distance theological education and was ordained in 2005. As Associate Priest at St Peter’s, my energy is focused in the area of Christian education and nurture, particularly as it relates to children and young people’s ministry. I am also the Librarian at Opihi College and an EFM mentor
